We have a Kindergartener

So Braden is officially a school aged student. On Friday the 22nd we went to school with his backpack FULL of all his school supplies. We met his teacher Mrs. K and found where his table is and where his cubby is. He seemed nonplussed.

Come Monday morning we were ready. Mom came over to hang with Finley so I could totally concentrate on getting Braden to school and have him find everything he needed. We got to school and I turned waaaayyyy nervous. There were hundreds of children and double that in parents. Braden couldnt find his "line" there were so many people. He played for a few minutes then lined up and off he went....alone. He wanted to go alone.....so he did, and I got teary. Luckily it was only a 2 1/2 hour day. Finley and I went back to pick up Braden and he was so excited to see us and let us know that he did it. He gave Fin a big hug and then proceeded to tell me that he gets to eat lunch and take a nap at school tomorrow.....so I guess he likes it!!

here he is prying his fingers from the classroom aide

Tune in later

I am desperately trying to upload some "first day of school" pictures and blogger is on the fritz apparently......

House Progress

So today in Galesburg it is a rainy day.....they aren't working at the house so I thought I would take the opportunity to update you all on the progress. After a slow start to the month due to unforseen circumstances (trusses too short, other projects, laborers at "duty") we have made HUGE progress in the last week. Sean and I have also met with two cabinet companies to see about getting our cabinets designed and in process. We have had to pick out our windows, sliding doors, side door and front door/sidelights. The guys as of today have a lot of the framing of the first floor done. I dont have a recent picture...sorry...but the last one here is pretty accurate. All that is in addition to the picture is the dining room,Sean's office, bathroom and pantries are framed it.....maybe tomorrow I will show ya!! Needless to say we are EXCITED!!

"Life Park" or "Prairie Street Park"

Braden has been BEGGING to go to Wildlife Prairie Park. As he calls it "Life Park" or as Fin referred to it later as "Prairie Street Park" (for those who dont know, we live on Praire Street). So we went and I begged my mom to come too.......

This is how I spent the day until Braden decided he was tired and mom pushed Fin and I took Braden on my shoulders.
We saw a lot of animals.....buffalo, elk, black bears, red and grey wolves, bobcats (although they hid) hawks, eagles and a garter snake. No the garter snake wasn't an exhibit, but it came "THIS" close to slithering on Braden. Needless to say I freaked and now Braden is scared of snakes....whooooops.

On the train......I am confused by the train, you dont see ANYTHING....................

Happy Birthday Meme!!

Next year there will be another baby girl, Mallory, in the "group photo"...we cant wait!!!

The Millers Visit

Kane and Cole spent the day with us a few weeks back while their parents were working. I tried to keep them occupied, however it was an unseasonably cool day. We decided to head to Discovery Depot for an hour before lunch...

They enjoyed all the exhibits....especially the water room and the restaurant....they even fixed me a bologna hamburger...yummy!!

Misc.

I was reading a magazine the other day and looked up and saw this......yes, Finley is reading a Traditional Home and Braden is reading the Scrabble Dictionary.....

Braden the Photographer

Here is Braden taking pictures of Lucy, Auntie Em's dog, unbeknownst to him.....it was on video.

Baby Mallory's Baby Shower

This past Saturday we (Shannon and I) threw a baby shower for Kari and Baby Mallory. Due to the fact that all the Kane's were in town and we hated to kick them out of the house for the shower, we held it at a local restaurant The Packinghouse. So easy, they did the cooking and the cleanup!! She got lots of nice and useful stuff, including the finished bedding for the crib!!

She's Home....We're Thrilled

Ok so it is Wednesday morning AFTER Em's return to the "Burg" and we have seen her everyday but Sunday!! She's already helped me go through most of my clothes to weed some out!! We (Alyssa, Mom and I) decided to throw an impromptu "surprise" dinner for Em on Friday. There was tons of food, drinks, sweets and friends there AND we pulled it off and she was successfully surprised!! Here are some pics from the evening and it was HOTTTT.
