No Pictures

I dont know if everyone is having this issues right now (8:46 pm, central time on Thursday) but Blogger wont upload my pictures. I have some images of a fun new project I did last week...yes I am projecting again. So I will pull an Alyssa and give some updates

1. Braden knows the entire "Pledge of Allegiance"...it is so funny and neat to hear him say it all. I swear the first time he said instead of "under God" he said "in the yard". But now it is spot on.

2. We officially have the entire 2nd floor framed in at the house. I think tomorrow (Friday) they are going to work on the front staircase, my closets/drawers in the staircase and maybe start on putting up the outer (green) wall on the second floor. We had enlarged our closet, yes Sean and I are sharing a closet, and neglected to draw the 2nd door into it. So they didn't frame that in, we will chat about it and see if it is necessary.

3. I had some blood work drawn this week.....one test came back way positive so they need to do additional tests on it. They actually had to send it away, Galesburg apparently doesn't do the additional fluoroscent tests...keep your fingers crossed that it is negative or a fluke....were thinking its a fluke. I feel fine. UPDATE....all tests came back fine.

4. Sean has lost his voice

5. We (Braden, Finley and I) are going to Streator tomorrow night for a Streator High School Football Game, Go Bulldogs!! UPDATE.....Streator won 14-13!!

6. I have decided that the weather needs to cool off a bit...I am ready to wear my jeans regularly. UPDATE.....still feel this way!!

7. I need some cute new boots for the season, anyone seen any that aren't astronomical??

NYC

This is our trip to New York City 2008. You can revisit our 2007 trip also
It is a long, involved post. Feel free to just glance at the pictures, but this will serve as a "travel journal" of sorts so when I cant remember in a few weeks.........

We arrived to New York at about noon, we were able to check in early, which was fabulous. We headed out to check out our surroundings and came upon a great little sushi joint. We ventured in and ordered. I was so proud of Sean for indulging me on the sushi and so proud of myself for going with out my sister, the sushi queen.

We then headed down towards Bryant Park, where Fashion Week was....you can see the tents, heavy security, so no fashion show for me. I guess i'm not "fashionable" enough.
Times Square
The Chrysler Building
Rockefeller Center
We walked a TON on our first afternoon there. We were exhausted...up at 3:30 am to make our 6 a.m. flight....but the show goes on....we headed back to our hotel, freshened up, changed clothes and headed back to John's for pizza. ( a fave from before)
Then headed to our play for the evening. Wicked......one word....GO. If you get the chance, GO!!

Thursday morning we slept in....till 9....to find that our new niece was born. After chatting with Shannon and Meme about it to get the news we headed on the subway down to Soho for breakfast at Dean and Delucas. This store is Cooks and Company on Steroids. Great place, however if you arent a local, its hard because you want to buy the cheese and bread, however dont have a kitchen to put it in. After breakfast, we headed down to Canal street to check out the deals.....didn't purchase much.....and headed back to stroll around Soho for the afternoon.

We had mexican for lunch and then headed back up to the upper west side to find Serendipitys. Along the way we stopped at Barneys, because we'd never been.....just as you would expect.....we found Serendipitys and had a frrrrozen hot chocolate and carrot cake....yummy
Next to Serendipitys is a candy store which had the final products of last seasons Project Runway candy challenge....this is Kits and Christians designs.
All the colorful M & Ms at the M & M store.....

By the way, this is Thursday of our trip which happens to be Sept. 11th (7th anniv.). Below is the 2 lights that they have had lit into the night sky representing the twin towers.....hard to see.

We went for dinner Thursday with my cousin Caroline and her husband Mike. We went to Babbo which is Mario Batali's restaurant. (read the book HEAT). They have a normal ala carte menu, however we went for the 8 course tasting menu with the wine courses. NEAT!! It was a way to try things that we wouldn't normally try......FIDDLEHEADS, for example....google it.

the BEST dessert ever. I have no idea what it was, however it tasted like a giant peanut butter cup.....Caroline was in the ladies room when this was served.....we almost stole hers. After our 3 hour meal, we headed back....tired feet, full tummies and giant smiles on our faces. We had a great time and it was soooo nice to spend some "quiet, adult" time with the Cormiers. Next year we will have to try another fun restaurant and bar!!
After a walking around day Friday.....a visit to Ground Zero and Century 21, we headed to the Bronx for the Yankee Game.....after 1 hour of a rain delay....we headed back to the hotel. Funny thing, we didnt take raincoats with us to New York....took jackets, not rain repellant. So we both purchased new rain coats....and then we left after an hour. We took the subway back, ordered room service (coffee and a dessert), rented the Legend of the Crystal Skulls and vegged out. We also heard that the game was cancelled and rescheduled to Saturday....so our tickets were good for that game...YEAHH

Saturday we headed to Macys at Herald Square (thanksgiving parade). Right nearby is the Empire State Building....
In case you didn't know....some of Macy's escalators are the old wooden ones.....neat to see, scary to ride

While there we got the call that Mark and Charla Reed were in town (we knew they were coming) and weren't far...so we met them for a drink. They were in town to go to a Mets game Saturday and a Yankee game Sunday...Quick trip for them!!!

Their crew....they had matching shirts....something like.....Game tickets 500.00, Airfare 800.00, Hotel 800.00 8 friends, 2 ballparks, 2 days Priceless...."tourists" tee heee heee (inside joke)
so you think I am a good photographer....look at this shot.....nice huh?
Our lunch Saturday from the Broadway Deli......GREAT sandwiches
some images of new york

John Mayer wannabee....seriously we saw a lot of famous people....Clinton Kelly (what not to wear) was walking down the street......we RODE THE ELEVATOR in Barneys with Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth from the Hills......we saw some actress that used to be on Third Watch (paramedic).....Jennifer Hutt of "whatever with alexis and jennifer" on sirius radio....Bobby Flay's wife, an actress on some lawyer/cop show. And I SWEAR I saw this girl Lisa that I worked with in Cincinnati.....
The rescheduled game on Saturday was 100 % better....good night too for the Yankees...they win and Jeter has 3 hits....he set the record for the most hits at Yankee Stadium the following night!!

Our walk back to the hotel Sunday.....a Mister Softee....a trip to NYC isn't complete without one. We had a great time, ate TONS of great food, saw LOTS of neat things, talked CONSTANTLY to each other, LAUGHED, RESTED and SHOPPED. We WILL be back!!

Misc

Recently, we attended a family friend's wedding, Amy. The kids were thrilled to be there....especially for the play structure. It was PERFECT weather, there was GREAT food and a FUN time was had by all!!

Emily and Lucas in the "photo booth". She had a photo booth there that gave you two copies of your pictures. You kept one copy and the cute photo guys glued your others to a black page which you then wrote something on....like a scrapbook/guestbook. NEAT
Sean and I in the photo booth....
The house as of Labor Day....it how has all the second floor trusses on it....the floor should be down soon, if this rain would subside.
Open House 2008. Braden with his teacher Mrs. K.
At his "table" Fun with Finley....momma
daddy
At Amy's rehearsal dinner they had a tailgate theme. All the guests were to come in their favorite team garb. They served hotdogs and hamburgers, chips, beer...just like a tailgate!! This is my Uncle John (KU Grad), the mother of the bride Denise (Cardinal fan) and my mom (KU attendee of 1 year........a long story, will maybe tell ya one day)

**NEWS**

A lot of commotion was happening during our trip to NYC back in West Bend, WI. On Sept 11th, 2008 our new niece, Mallory Shannon Kane, arrived (rather quickly I might add. Baby, Mom and Dad are all doing great.....we can't wait to meet her and kiss those baby cheeks!!
