Brady love, Bands, Brownies and Birthdays

Multiple events....

Brady Love at the park
Brady teaching Auntie Em how to use exercise bands?!?!?!?!?
my new brownie pan from my baker of a "sister" Shannon...there is an edge on every piece. YUMMMMMM
When I asked Brady what he thought we should make for his Daddy for his birthday he said a Lion cake. Braden is obsessed with jungle animals....Sean isn't a huge cake fan. Here posed the problem, how to make something Sean would like that Braden would think would be cool. We decided on Apple Slices (like apple pie with frosting) and shaped it into the face of a tiger and added food coloring stripes. Voila a Tiger "Cake"!!!

The Park

We have been spending a lot of early evenings at the park. Sean has had a lot of busy evenings so we head out for some fresh air!! This park is great, the structures are small enough that I dont have to climb up there with the kids!!

Sprinklers in October?

So Columbus Day weekend it was in the 90's here. It was the first weekend of the Spoon River Drive (a craft event the first two weekends in October) and it was so terribly hot. Usually you can count on it being typical Fall weather for the Spoon River Drive. This is how we occupied our time on Sunday.......the sprinkler!!!!

pumpkins galore

October is officially my favorite month....football season is in full swing, the air is warm yet cool at night, it gets darker a little sooner, the leaves just start to change and get crunchy, mums and gourds appear on porches instead of geraniums, you start thinking of the December holiday and of course pumpkins. Pumpkins for decorating and eventually carving. Such a busy month and here were are already at a pumpkin "patch". The kids had a ball...Braden must have picked up 10 pumpkins, one better than the last. We settled on a few along with some fun gourds. Now if I can just keep the squirrels from eating them......

look at those eyebrows!!!
our "haul"

huummmm...i just love these two little people

We Love Gran

This past weekend Finley, Braden and I headed to a small Kane reunion. It was very impromptu and Sean was unable to get away. At any rate, we got to see a lot of the Kane crew and that was great. Kelly and Seattle Sutton hosted us at their home and supplied multiple yummy meals and an even yummier carrot cake....goodness. The boys swam at the hotel in the freezing water, yet they didn't care because they were swimming....Uncle Steve didn't last long in there, can't say I blamed him!!
cole thinking he would like a beer

kane, brady and noah....having cookies and orange soda....two whole cans between the three of them...they were thirstykane and shannon

Broadway Bound

Sean and I took our FIRST trip to NYC in September...We both had talked that New York was the first place we wanted to go to when he was out of residency and we finally got our act together and went. We had a fabulous time!! Lots of walking, eating, shopping and people watching!! We also arranged to meet some childhood friends of ours, Liz and Dena, for a drink. We also met up with my cousin, Caroline and Mike (hubby), for a drink as well. It was great to see all of them!! We attended a Yankee game (Sean a longtime fan), hit Canal Street, the original Macys, ate in Little Italy and was in awe of the bright, craziness of Times Square....Did you know Ann Taylor Loft is even in Neon on Broadway. Strangely enough, we didnt see one famous person......

derek jeter...i think he got a hit on that one...

our seats were FABULOUS!! and it was a perfect night!

watching batting practice...which we almost missed due to the subway!
times square at night
times square by day
st. patricks cathedral....jfk was married and buried here
ground zero....AMAZING sight...it is unbelieveable how large it is down there. you get a whole new perspective on the rescue and then recovery efforts from 9-11. we could only imagine how difficult the clean up was and now the rebuilding. we were there 9-22...only weeks after the anniversary, there were flowers everywhere...so sad.
notice the red crane
there are people working past it which you cant see in the above picture because they are so far away....that is how big the area is
a tribute in bronze just adjacent to the site. This wall is also a wall to Ladder Co 10, which is right there.....

3 Boys and a Princess

There is a couple who live here in Galesburg 1/2 of the year....some of you may know them better as Bobby and Casey (Vedder) Allen. They have 2 blond boys who are spitting images of each other....Caden is 5 (august) and Colton is 2 (sept). So they are close in age to our two kids....we had the boys over for some playtime and it was so warm outside we spent the majority of the time there....the kids had fun Casey, we should do it again sometime!!
