We are sooooo excited

TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY
FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER AND EVER AND EVER!!

Not a Creative Title for the Post

Shannon and I are throwing a baby shower for our sister in law Kari (Casey's wife) this weekend. Lets just say I (we) have been busy for about 10 days for the shower. Here is a sneak preview. I will post pictures after the shower, of course.

Meme (Sean's Mom) made Kane and Braden's baby bedding (first borns) and naturally she is making Casey and Kari's baby to be hers. She worked a whole weekend nonstop and still has a few hours left to go.......
Look what I found on our coleus yesterday....dont know how I saw it, it is about the size of a postage stamp......I swear it was staring at me!!
She is just so independant...................................

The Slip and Slide returns

Kane and Cole came for a visit last week and we busted out the slip and slide again.....

Some fun at the house.....................................

No, we dont know how the rabbit got in there. Yes, we are going to get it out. No, we dont know how. Enter my Grandmother and her coffee group. A member of her Sunday Coffee Group is a Naturalist and he volunteered to remove the rabbit. He was successful and no one was injured in the rescue. Now if we could just get a floor on the house we wont have this problem again.....

Happenings

Minor Progress at the house....the floor joists (trusses) were delivered as well as some posts for the basement (burgandy). The builder dropped off the scaffolding to start work.......no if they would just START

We are still obsessed with Kung Fu Panda.

I got all Organized on myself and my endless pile of ribbon....I purchased two wooden CD cases and a dowel rod from Jo Anns. I then drilled holes in each end for the dowel rod. There is a hole out the bottom of the case where the ribbon is dispensed.....I just need to peel off the stickers and it will be complete....key fob anyone?

Backyardigans

Braden and Finley had some friends over today....Ben and Emelia Fox (from Kentucky). Ben's grandparents live here in Galesburg and are REAL good friends of the family. The kids are spending the week with their grandparents and they came over today for some fun and lunch.

We started off in the "jumpy thing"........Finley hung with them until they decided to turn it off while they were in there and let it collapse on them....

We then moved on to a Slip and Slide!!! These are much improved from years past, including a pillow end to catch you and an abundance of water for a final splash!
Finley wanted NOTHING to do with it....Meme finally walked her down the lane, no sliding however
Ben slippin and a slidin

The boys headed back to the "bounce house"....what is it called anyway....and Finley played with the water left over on the slip and slide
Emelia.......just hanging with Grandma Pam
Time for lunch and a cupcake!!

The kids were all troopers.....it was 90 degrees here today and they stayed outside for a good long time. It was great that Ben was able to have a friend his age to play with while he was here!!

zucchini as big as your feet

Our garden is FINALLY ripening. Here are some cucumbers (picklebush) so they are tiny and some green beans which havent done stellar this year.

here's a zucchini that I must have missed yesterday, there are at least 3 more that will be ready to pick tomorrow.....now what to make with all these zucchini?

lazy pool days

For those of you who are familiar with SCC....This was a Wednesday when it was 85 degrees out. We arrived at 11:00 and left at 1:30 and were literally 1 of 2 families at the pool.......bliss

notice her goggles (which she doesnt use for their original purpose) are totally fogged up!!

We have a floor and flowers

Yeah!! The basement floor was poured and is now "finished". Now we just need the floor trusses to arrive (end of week) and the hammering can begin!!

Our local grocery store has roses for 2 for $1. So Pretty!!

My summer staple

Venti Shaken Iced Green Tea Unsweetened......even the iced tea at Starbucks is a mouthful!! But worth it! If i'm feeling frisky I ask for 1 splendia in it!

Our Garden 2008

One of my earliest posts was about our garden last summer....so I thought I should show our garden this summer. We have planted peas, beans, brussel sprouts, different peppers, different tomatos, zucchini, cucumbers and 1 pumpkin seed. The peas and beans did POORLY this year, not sure where we err'd on that one......everything else (especially the pumpkin and zucchini) are doing fabulously!!

thats the pumpkin engulfing the corner and into the back up the pea fencing!! Yikes!! 1, yes, 1 seed did this!! Can't wait for the fall.

Fourth of July Weekend...warning LOTS of pics

The Kane family headed "up north" to West Bend Wisconsin to spend the 4th of July weekend with Sean's brother Casey and his wife Kari. Due to a scheduling error.....Sean actually had the 4th and the following weekend off so he was able to join us. Meme and Grandad as well as the Millers (Shannon, Steve, Kane and Cole) arrived at "Rock's" on Wednesday.
On the 4th there was a little beer....multiple brands to be exact....
Yummy dip and Dave's Brats (the best)
lots of chitchat...in the shade, it was WARM in the sun

fun times frolicking
a little pool time, we're not sure what Finley is doing in this picture...
"Cole-y"
"Lee"
"Kane-er" (zoom on this if you can and notice all the water drips on him....)
smores while waiting for fireworks. You could see the city's fireworks from Rock's backyard so we took advantage of THAT!!

The Miller's waiting.....
more waiting......go DAVE
still more waiting....
and then it began.

this is how the dogs spent most of the time. They definately weren't used to 10 extra people in their house....

A little ds time on Saturday
Saturday evening, the Big Boys went to a Milwaukee Brewer game. We went to the movies!!
Shannon, Kari and I went to Kit Kittredge, GREAT movie!!

Meme was a trooper and took the 4 kids, alone, to Kung Fu Panda...it was Kanes 4th time seeing it and Braden's and Cole's 3rd.......
Our movie was across the hall and started 5 minutes later so it was perfect!!

Saturday during the day we went to an indoor arcade/playground/putputt and paintball. We did it all but the paintball. Have you ever did the Dance Dance Revolution?? Shannon and I did the "beginner" stage and we were sweating. Steve went up against his wife and my hubby went up against me. I so wish someone had caught Sean doing this....Im sure it was a picture worth taking. Thanks big guy for amusing me and doing it!!
The play structure had 6 slides, 2 rock walls, ladders, tireswings, monkey bars....FUN!!

By the end of the day Cole was doing this by himself and was SHOOTING out the slide....
she closed her eyes EVERY time...notice Cole is helping catch her
must be a family trait
still in the family

and then there was putputt.....enough said

clearly was a "nature" course....no the bear was not real

So THANK YOU to Rock and Kari for a fun filled 2 days. We left Sunday after breakfast, so we packed a lot into the time we were there!!
